The 2015 / 2016 ski season in Ellicottville, New York got off to slow start with the El Nino winter conditions. The December 2015 skiing was virtually non existent, unless you had wheels on your skis! Thankfully mother nature came through with several lake effect snow storms and some big clippers during the month of February. She showed us her love with the best Valentine's Day gift ever, SNOW! Snowfall overnight on February 15, 2016 was close to 8 inches and it is still falling. More snow is predicted the remainder of the week!
Holiday Valley, HoliMont and Kissingbridge all have good ski conditions. The mountain crews are working hard to keep trails and slopes open. They have been busy keeping them groomed when the snow arrives and conditions exist to make snow. As of February 16, 2016, the ski resorts have the following snow bases:
Holiday Valley Resort 16" - 49" base and 55 trails open
HoliMont Ski Resort 12"-36" base and 50 trails open
Kissingbridge Ski Resort 5" - 35" base and 35 trains open
This is a great time to get out and enjoy the good ski conditions during this shortened ski season from the El Nino weather effect. Take a trip to Ellicottville and give thanks to mother nature for this Valentine's Day gift!
