Super Skiing and Snowshoeing at Holiday Valley Resort

Over the weekend we went skiing and snowshoeing at Holiday Valley Resort. The conditions were great. We checked out the new high speed quad lift on Morningstar and the Bear Cub run near the Wall lift.  The Bear Cub run was nice, with a few S curves and a long sweeping curve with a view. The base was a little thin when we went, but still a nice addition to the resort. The rest of the day was great. Champagne was in great shape and made for fantastic runs. We also love Sunrise, with two options to ski with sharp curve or a steep slope, and there is a nice long finish with good speed. This area is usually not crowded. We had plenty of snow and more came over the weekend.

We also went snow shoeing up by Spruce lake. We took the blue trail up by the Spruce Line lift. The trail is in the woods to the right of the ski area. We followed it up near the water tower and kept going. It took us to Spruce lake, where we had a great view and a good hike around the lake. Afterwards we headed by the cross country ski trail to the right of the Spruce Line lift. Just after the second CC trail sign, we saw the white blazes on the trees. It was fantastic! This was a nice trail, the later connected to the blue trail again, by the relay tower. We saw some snow mobiles on the way and checked out the area on top of the Tannebaum lift. There were great conditions and traveled trails. There were nice areas to get into the deep snow.

We really enjoyed Ellicottville.
